Mr. David Clarence Chesteen, age 97, resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and former resident of French Camp, died after a lengthy illness Saturday, December 12, 1992 at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Hudson Chesteen and the widower of the late Mrs. Iva Aden Bridges Chesteen.
A native of Montgomery County, Mr. Chesteen was a retired farmer and a member of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church near Kilmichael.
Funeral services were conducted at Nations Poplar Creek Baptist church Monday, December 14 at 1:00 p.m. with the Revs. Dale Strickland and Horton Sanders officiating. Burial was in the Nations Poplar Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Chesteen is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Vera Henson of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, Mrs. Louise Boyett of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Betty Crouch of Winona; two sons, Lloyd Chesteen of Franklin, Louisiana and Hudson Chesteen of French Camp; 20 grandchildren; and a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Terry Edwards, Robert Simms, Jerry Dominic, Buddy Malone, Sammy Malone and Ronald Dean Henson.
Honorary pallbearers were Narvil Henley and Pete Malone.
Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
