Lorene Wilma (LogemNN) Andersen, 96

July 3, 1924 ~ December 10, 2020

Lorene was born July 3, 1924 to Wilhelm and Elsie Logemann. Lorene, her parents and two older brothers lived on a farm on the SW corner of Ida and 156th Streets south of Bennington, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She graduated from Bennington High School and then attended one year of college in Wichita KS. She taught school for two years at a rural school near Wichita.

Alvin and Lorene were married Sept. 12, 1945 and made their home on the Andersen farm NW of Washington NE. There they raised four sons.

After her marriage she became a lifelong active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington NE, teaching Sunday School, helping with lunch for innumerable funerals, enjoying the church’s Couple’s Club and working with the quilters. She was talented quilter, making many beautiful and treasured quilts as wedding and birthday gifts for her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Washington County Extension Club and WOW (Women of Washington). Alvin and Lorene took advantage of retirement to travel across this country (including a car trip to Alaska) and internationally.

Lorene (like her mother) was always busy and on the move. She made sure everyone was taken care of before she thought of herself. Lorene’s father once told Alvin that Lorene, like his wife Elsie, “made him tired just watching her.”

Lorene was lovingly attentive to all of her family. She was the sole survivor of her generation in the Logemann and Andersen families.

The Lord’s work for Lorene Wilma Andersen ended December 10, 2020 and she has joined her beloved husband, Alvin.

Preceding her in death were her husband Alvin, her brothers and their wives Russell and Margaret and Lester and Dorothy and her dear sister’s-in-law, Clarice Andersen and Verda Heger Swanson.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law: Glen and Carleen, Wayne and Wendy, Marvin and Pam and Wesley and Pam. (She said that she finally got her daughters when her sons married). She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Darin and Dawn, Emily and Geoffrey DeOld, Brian and Nichole, Kevin and Jessica, Maggie and Geoff Peterson, Virginia and Eric Nost and Kathy and Nathan Benes; and by her great-grandchildren; Tyler, Makayla, Hope, Ella, Tate, Evelyn and Elsie.

A funeral service for close family will be held Thursday, December 17th at 10:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 322 N Molley Street, Bennington., Nebraska. Out of COVID concerns social distancing and masking will be expected. The service will be live-streamed and then following the service at noon there will be a Zoom session which all are encouraged to attend. Burial Prairie View Cemetery, Hwy 31 and County Road 38, Kennard, NE 68034.

It is suggested that any memorials be given to either the Memorial Fund or the Quilters at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
