Death: Sep. 3, 1944

William Edwin Myers was born in Virginia City, 'Galena', Nevada to John Traxler and Nancy Melissa Epperson Myers. His Father was born in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania to William 'Jesse' and Margery 'Traxler' Myers. John Traxler headed 'West' when he was about 21 years old. Met Nancy Melissa Epperson in Virginia City, NV, whose family had come from Iowa, headed for Oregon. William had 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

The family moved from Virginia City, to Oregon, when William was 11 years old. His Grandparents Gilbert John and Catherine 'Ticcle' Bailey Epperson had already been living in 'Sandy, OR' for about 12 years when their daughter, Nancy and family, moved to Oregon. 'Gilbert and Catherine Epperson, Pioneers' (a 'family' story) can be seen at the Sandy, Oregon Historical Museum in Sandy....

Williams family settled in Dodge, Oregon and set up a 'sawmill'... on 'Myers' Creek... What is now 'Milk-Creek'... His father sold his land, in Dodge, to buy a 4 block piece of land in 'Twilight' (Oregon City, OR)... William stayed on in the Sawmill, until he retired and moved to Estacada, Oregon.

William's sister, Flo Myers Swick, kept in contact with her father, John Traxler Myers', family in Pennsylvania. Fortunate she did, as she handed down to the 'descendants' of the 'Myers' and Associated families thier 'Ancestral' History.

Per letter from cousin, Florence Ilene Davis Connell, dated 2002:

William was born in Galena, NV, as was his brother Henry Clay Myers, and attended school in Virginia City, Storey Co., NV.

William and his father, John Traxler Myers, had a mill on what was once named "Myers" Creek in Dodge, Oregon. "Myers" creek is presently named "Milk" Creek.

When I was a young girl, Family Reunions were held on the land that once was "Myers" Mill as well as the land where they built their 1st house in Dodge, Oregon. Today, there still remains cable, used in the old Mill.

William and his first wife, Lorena Belle Cherry Myers had two sons: Jesse Elvin Myers and Charles Edwin Myers. Jesse is buried in Rose City Cemetery under (#24193840). Charles is buried in Springwater Cemetery (#59356028) between his mother and father.

From the book, "Myers and Fishburn Families", 1969 by Vera Fishburn Myers Weaver and Alvin L. Weaver

Many Mayer-Meyer names appear on the records in Wurtemburg, Germany. From some of the early history of that Province we have learned that one Melchoir Meyer (Myers), who was born 1495, was named Military Chief of the Free Imperial City of Ulm. Later mention of the Mayer-Meyer names indicates that many men of that name, or a spelling not too different, were military men. The services they gave must have been of some value for Emperor Maximilian granted the Mayer family it's "Coat of Arms" in 1570.
