CLAR C. LOTHROP IS DEATH VICTIM

Clar C. Lathrop was born at Vermillion, South Dakota January 5, 1882, and passed away on September 7, 1944 at his home in Blair. At the age of one year he came to Blair with his parents, John and Hortense Lathrop, where he grew to manhood and received his education.

In 1916 he joined the army and served in Company "F" 4th Nebraska Infantry. After his discharge he re-enlisted on July 31, 1917 and served until September 24, 1919 in Co. "F", 3rd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Division, overseas.

Since his discharge from the army he has made his home with his brother, Ashley, on South Walker Avenue.

He was preceded in death by his father who passed away in 1928 and his mother in 1932. One brother, Mark, passed away many years ago. Deceased leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Mrs. Harding of Hohenwald, Tennessee and three brothers, Grant of Chicago, Illinois; Norman of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and Ashley of Blair.

He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and at the funeral which was held last Sunday afternoon, the Legion was in charge of the ceremonies doing honor to a deceased comrade. Funeral services were held at the Bendorf Funeral Home with Rev. D. D. Kennedy officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
