OBITUARY: DORRENE "TOOTSIE" BROWNING ACKER
Tulia-Dorrene "Tootsie" Browning Acher, 76, died at 12:17 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2006 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Rusty Gray, pastor of Tulia Christian Fellowship Church in Tulia and Rev. Tim Harper, Chaplin of Vista Care Hospice in Plainview, assisting. Burial fellowed in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornestone Funeral Directors in Tulia. She was born August 25, 1930 in Dermont, TX to Evelyn Inez and Johnny Jackson Browning. She grew up in Dermott and graduated from Rotan High School. She started working for the Callan Hospital in Rotan at the age 16. She late became an LVN. She married Alton Foy Acker on April 25, 1948 in Roby. They moved to Swisher Co. in 1960, she started working at Swisher Memorial Hospital in 1968. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 50+ years and was a past Worthy Matron. She was a member of the Trinity Christian Fellowship Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Sierra Wheeler of Georgetown; one son Leslie Foy Acker of Tulia; two brothers, Mark Browning of San Angelo and Bryce Browning of Ft. Worth; her baby sister,Daphene Hamm Campbell of Cedar Park; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Roy J. Browning.
