2nd Lt. Wilson Wilmer Sparks was the son of David and Sarah Ann Sparks. He was the husband of Mary Catherine (Williams) Sparks, father of Bertha Williams (Sparks) Harter, grandfather of Mary Emma (Harter) Miller, great-grandfather of Bertha Mae (Miller) Haight, g-g-grandfather of Mary Jane Haight-Eckert, g-g-g-grandfather of Heidi Anne and g-g-g-g-grandfather of Clifton J.

He was one of the original incorporators of the Crystal Spring Camp Meeting Association, an early Methodist Camp, established in 1886. He also served as a trustee of the organization until his death. The camp is located just east of the Bedford County line in Fulton County, Pennsylvania, about 4 miles south of Breezewood. The Association celebrated its centennial in August 1986.
