Ruth O. Myers, 61-year-old Special Education teacher at Central school, died at 8:35 p.m. Friday at Maude Norton Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient a week-and-a-half.
The daughter of Frank and Elsie Troher Armstrong, she was born Sept. 26, 1917, at Columbus, and was a lifetime resident of the Columbus route one area. She was a 1946 graduate of Kansas State Teachers College. She received a Masters Degree in 1972. She taught school for 25 years in the Columbus area. She had also worked as an Avon
representative for seven years.
She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Help One Another Club and the Presbyterian Church.
She married Harry A. Myers on Aug. 25, 1940, at Columbus.
He died May 26, 1967. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Linda (Roger) Box, Columbus; a sister, Mrs. Bonnie (Forrest) Smithson, Oscaloosa, and a granddaughter. One sister Mrs. Vale (William), Walker, died Jan. 8, 1975.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Presbyterian Church. Dr. A. L. Spotts will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery under the direction of Jorden-Murdock Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 0' clock tonight at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Heart Fund in care of the funeral home.
