Mrs. Helen K. Bennett, 85, died Wednesday (May 26, 2004) at Baptist Village following a short illness.
She was a native of Waycross and had resided most of her life in Waycross. She was married to the late McLoy Bennett and was preceded in death by her parents, Ed C. King and Allie James King; and a son, Carrol L. Bennett.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Jolly Friends, and the grandmother's club. She was a former volunteer at Baptist Village for several years.
The survivors include three daughters, Connie Wheeler of Alma, Marie Phillips of Blakely, Linda Wilbor of Charlotte, NC; a son, Loy Woodrow Bennett of Fairmount, GA; a sister, Cecil Carter of Anderson, SC; four brothers, Omar King of Birmingham, AL, Larry King of Lakeland, Harold King of Waycross, Wayne King of Montana; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Thursday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.
