Mrs. Mary Clinton, wife of Peter Clinton, died at her home in Denison, Iowa last Thursday night at the advanced age of about 75 years, after an illness of some duration owing to her old age. The trouble started sometime ago from an attack of the grippe, from which she never fully recovered.
Mrs. Clinton was born in Ireland 75 years ago. She came to America and settled in Canada in 1865. About 35 years ago she came to Dunlap, Iowa, and was there married to Thomas Millard, who died a few years afterward. She then moved to Harlan and from there came to Vail to marry Mr. Peter Clinton about 25 years ago.
She had no children, but she was a good and kind step-mother to her husband's three children, Thomas, Patrick, and Mary, who all live here or near here, and who mourn her loss as they would their own mother.
The funeral was held at the Catholic church in Denison on Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock and the remains were laid to rest in the Old Catholic Cemetery.
