Allen Alpheus Crecelius was a son of George Crecelius & Elizabeth Keller. Two weeks after Allen's sister Etta married Aaron Coulter, he married on 14 July 1881, at Marshalltown, Iowa, to Aaron's sister, Julia Maria Coulter, daughter of Samuel Coulter & Maria Bash. Julia was born May 9, 1863, and died March 10, 1897, age 33, leaving Allen with seven children aged 14 and under: Charlie, Johnny, Florence, Hazel, Clara, Lula, and Meta. An eighth child, Lee Roy Crecelius, died on August 10, 1894, age three months.

The second child, John Henry Crecelius, died November 9, 1898, age 14, and joined his mother and baby brother in Conrad Cemetery.

Allen married second on April 27, 1899, to his cousin Mary Alice Crecelius, daughter of Harrison Crecelius & Nancy Burris. They had four children: Marie, Earl, Howard, and Harold. Howard Franklin Crecelius, born January 11, 1905, died age 18 months, and is buried near his two brothers.
After Allen died in 1933, age 77, he was buried beside his first wife Julia at Conrad. His second wife Mary died January 3, 1944, age 77, and is buried at Redfield, South Dakota.

My father, Fred Coulter, had a threshing rig & crew in the early 1900s. He said his uncle Al was his best worker on his threshing crew.
