| Birth: | Oct. 6, 1771 Adams County Pennsylvania, USA | | Death: | Mar. 22, 1852 |  Governor of Ohio, U.S. Senator, U.S. Congressman. A native of Pennsylvania, he moved to the Northwest Territory in 1795, settling in what became Hamilton County, Ohio as a surveyor and farmer. Became a member of the Territorial House of Representatives from 1800 to 1802. When Ohio became a state, he was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the United States House of Representatives, and served from 1803 to 1813. He won election to the United States Senate in 1812, and served from 1813 to 1819. He was not a candidate for reelection in 1818, returned to Ohio, and became the State Canal Commissioner. Elected as Ohio's 9th Governor, he served from 1822 to 1826. He then became a member of the Ohio State Senate and the Ohio State House of Representatives. Filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Thomas Corwin, he was again elected to Congress, representing Ohio's 4th District as a Whig, and served from 1840 to 1843. He declined renomination, retired from politics after 43 years of public service, and lived the remaining years of his life on his farm and gristmill in Warren County, Ohio. Several places are named for him, including Morrow, Ohio and the Jeremiah Morrow Bridge, the highest bridge in Ohio which carries a portion of Interstate 71 in Warren County.
