Birth: Sep. 12, 1812
Death: unknown

Born September 12, 1812 in Greene County, Alabama, and died After 1880 in Montgomery County, Mississippi.

He married CYENA (TWIN) BLAYLOCK October 25, 1838 in Carroll County, Mississippi, daughter of LEVI BLAYLOCK and SARAH TYLER. She was born July 19, 1825 in Barnwell Co. South Carolina, and died in Winona, Montgomery County, Mississippi.

James Simpson Collins received only a moderate education. As a young man he was bitten by a rattlesnake, causing one side to perish away, rendering him a cripple all his life. He adopted the Baptist Doctrine as his religious faith, to which he became very devoted in his later years. (as it was written in the Journal).

Cyena was a twin to Cyrena. Another (incorrect) birthdate for Cyena and her twin sister Cyrena, is April 21, 1820.
