Hertha Holland, age 82, of Jacksonville, (Duval Co) Florida died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Florida after an extended illness.

She was a native of Pierce County, but had lived in Jacksonville since 1951. Hertha was daughter of the late Johnny Moody and Lessie Whitehead Moody. She was preceded in death by her husband W. D. (Sonny) Holland and brother, James Moody. She was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church in Appling County.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Porter and husband Dale of Fort Pierce, sister, Johnnie Dixon of Jacksonville, two grandchildren, Pamella Arrieta of Lake Worth, Florida and Wayne Porter of Orlando, Florida. Also six great- grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, September 15 at 11 a.m. at Red Oak Baptist Church in Appling with the Reverend Ron Ross officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. The body will be carried to the church at 10 a.m. to lie in state.

Active pallbearers will be; G.M. Daniels, Joe Chafin, Jeff Morris, Buddy Bryant, Jack Morris and Ronnie Dixon. Honorary pallbearers will be; Harold Martin, Lamar Hartley, Jack Sullivan, Wiley Waters, Billy Whitaker, Edwin Holland, Travis Durham, Jimmy Greentree and Bubba Bryant.

Crosby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
