VIRGINIA "GIN" ROLLS- HEDRICK
Born Virginia Olive Villers in Weston, West Virginia, October 02, 1914 passed into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the age of ninety-two years.
Long time resident of the Caney area, Virginia was pre-deceased in 1995 by her husband, Pastor Harry Hedrick. Gin was a popular Caney hairdresser and active Christian, having been a member of the Southern Baptist Church for sixty years. With her husband she participated in initiating new congregations in several communities. They were also involved in missionary service in their many trips to Canada and among Native Americans in Wichita, Kansas.
Gin's oldest son, Dick J. Rolls, (wife, Kay Dawn) of Caney predeceased her. She leaves two living sons, George Gale Rolls and his wife, Norma Jean of Ridgefield, Washington and Reverend Tony Hedrick and his wife, Jeanne of Tega City, South Carolina.
She had ten grandchildren, Shane, Robin, Eric, Dickie, Gale, Shelley, Schuyler, Rachel, Amy and Matthew and more than twenty great grandchildren.
She is also survived by one brother, George Villers of Bowie, Texas.
Visitation hours for Gin will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 02, 2007 and from 8:00 a.m. to service time, Saturday, March 03, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Webb Rodrick Chapel of Independence, Kansas.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 03, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Webb Rodrick Chapel, 306 W. Main, Independence, Kansas. Virginia will be laid to rest at the Sunnyside Cemetery, Caney, Kansas.
