Mrs. Carroll was born on September 3, 1915 in Burleson County, Texas to Jim and Ester Echols Philp. She married William E. Chadwick on October 4, 1930 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She was a member of the Eastern Star Carthage Lodge # 747 where she served as Worthy Matron numerous times. Mrs. Carroll had lived her lifetime in Panola County where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, three brothers, and one great-granddaughter, Melissa Brooks.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Duke, of Carthage; two sisters, Ester Rhody and husband Elgin, of LaGrange and Dorothy Morgan, of Houston; and two grandchildren, Donette Hogan and husband Don, of Alabaster, Alabama and J. E. Duke and wife Debra, of Carthage.
