| Birth: | Nov. 5, 1813 Pennsylvania, USA | | Death: | Dec. 20, 1900 Greene County Pennsylvania, USA |  From the Waynesburg Republican Waynesburg, Pennsylvania (Greene County) Thursday, January 10, 1901 In Memoriam Mrs. Harriett Toppin, widow of the late Johnson Toppin, died at the home of Jacob Stone, of Cumberland township, December 20, at the ripe old age of eighty seven years. She had from her youth been a faithful and acceptable member of the M. E. church, but for many years on account of the infirmities of age had been unable to worship in her own church in Carmichaels, but as she lived near the New Providence church she took a deep interest in the work of that church until she was prevented by affliction from meeting with God's people at that place. Her maiden name was Cary, her father being a relative of Rev. N. Cary, once a resident of Carmichaels. Being left an orphan at an early age she was given a home among kind friends in Millsboro. Among whom were the Dalbys where she and her husband were united in marriage, but more than fifty years ago they removed from that place to this community, living first on the farm now owned by Ewing Bailey, but for the last thirty years she has lived near the "Glades." She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Elmira Lynch of Bedford, Iowa, who for the last few years has spent part of the time with her son who resides at Ogden, Utah. Mrs. Rebecca Parshall, of Bedford, Iowa, and Mrs. Matilda Gass of Garard's Fort, both deceased were also daughters.
