NOTE: A cousin says his headstone is very easy to find as it is the only reddish brown one there and sizable.
Oral history from sister Lena's living granddaughter: After Chris' mother (Sophia) died, his father (Christian) wanted to marry another woman who didn't want all of the children around so he "farmed out" the children to other families (forced servitude). The children were resentful of it. Chris was said to have been farmed out to an Indian family that beat him so he left before reaching 18. His father Christian and his new wife went on to have 6 more children.
