Alberta E. Dalaba, 74, of Pottersville, died Sunday, (Feb. 19, 1995) at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady following a long illness.
Born on April 7, 1920, on the family homestead in Igerna, she was the daughter of the late Bernice and Mina Meade Moffitt.
Mrs. Dalaba was a lifelong resident of the area who married Gerald E. Dalaba on Feb. 6, 1940.
The couple had lived in Pottersville most of their married lives.
Mrs. Dalaba formerly cooked in various restaurants in the area, including the Black Bear, the Dutch Kitchen and the Chester Diner.
She enjoyed knitting and quilting for her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Dalaba attended the North Chester Baptist Church in Olmstedville.
An infant daughter; one sister, Arvilla Hammond; and one brother, James Moffitt, all died before her.
Survivors besides her husband of 55 years include one son, Philip Dalaba of Igerna; one daughter, Evelyn Monroe of Pottersville; one sister, Mrs. Burton (Viola) Monroe of Warrensburg; one brother, Wayne Moffitt of Vermont; one aunt; three grandsons (Daniel Hayes, Gerald Hayes, and Jason Dalaba); four granddaughters (Deborah Howe,Sandra Ferry, Nicole Gifford and Kelly Wolfe); 10 great-grandchildren (Daniel & Diana Howe, Samantha & Stephen Ferry, Jennifer & Adam Hayes, Ashley & Kacey Gifford, Sabrina Wolfe and Gennah Lamphier) ; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 114 Main St., Warrensburg, with the Rev. Dennis Carey, pastor of the North Chester Baptist Church, and the Rev. Robert Herrman, pastor of the Thurman Baptist Church, co-officiating.
Burial will follow at Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the North Chester Baptist Church in Olmstedville.
