HAYFIELD -- The funeral for Betty A. Gulbransen will be at 11 a.m. Friday at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Hayfield, with the Rev. Darby Lawrence officiating. Interment will be in West St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hayfield.
Mrs. Gulbransen, 83, a longtime resident of the Kasson area, died Monday (Sept. 3, 2007) at the Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
Betty Anne Benke was born Jan. 8, 1924, in Dover. As a young child, she lived in the Dover and Stockton areas before moving to Kasson and graduating from Kasson High School. On Sept. 3, 1941, she married Oliver Gulbransen in Kasson. They farmed in rural Kasson all of their lives. In addition to being a farmwife, she was employed by Tiegen's Shopping Center in Oslo for more than 30 years. In retirement, Mrs. Gulbransen volunteered as a Pink Lady at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester for many years. She was also active in West St. Olaf Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, ceramics painting, and poetry.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie (Dale) Edgar of Kasson and Cleo (Carrol) Kelley of Pine Island; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cleo Lampland of Kasson. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield, and an hour before the service Friday at the church.
