Funeral Rites For Harley Reason

Harley Floyd Reason passed away Friday, Dec. 3rd after a long lingering illness.

He was the eldest son of Angelo and Eva Engleman Reason. He was born at Anita, Iowa, Jan. 6, 1897 and passed away December 3, 1971 at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and some days. He attended rural schools in Cass and Adair Co. and on February 13th, 1918 was united in marriage to Alice Speedling at Canby and to this union were born two sons, LeRoy of Menlo and Robert of Greeley, Colo. and daughter, Mrs. Oscar (Chloe Eva) Leonard of Auburn, Washington. Mr. and Mrs. Reason farmed most of their married lives, going into the produce business in Menlo in 1948, which they operated until their retirement.

On February 13, 1967, Mr. and Mrs. Reason quietly celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Menlo.

Harley was a member of the Menlo Methodist Church and served as janitor of the church for several years.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife Alice, the two sons LeRoy and Robert, and daughter, Mrs. Oscar Leonard, ten grandchildren, two brothers, Cecil Reason and Ralph Reason, both of Lenox and one sister, Mrs. Forrest Thomas (Mildred) of Lenox.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 5, at the Menlo Methodist Church with the Rev. Manning officiating. Mrs. Larry Sanborn was organist. Singers were Larry Sanborn and Royce Thornburg. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Ethel Van Duzer and Mrs. Gladys Thornburg.

In charge of the memory book was Mrs. Irene Partlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Herbert.

Pallbearers were grandsons Kimber Reason, Dwight Reason, and Lennis Reason, Steve Reason, Rudy Reason and Jim Snyder.

Burial was at the Canby cemetery.
