Christine Elisabeth Stienecker Brueggenjohann
Birth: Jul. 30, 1819, Germany
Death: Oct. 7, 1898
Hopewell (Warren County)
Warren County
Missouri, USA

Anna Christine Elisabeth Stineker/Stienecker was born in Ladbergen, Kreis Techlenburg, Deutschland. She was the daughter of Johann Hermann and Anna Christina Elisabeth (Kuck) Stienecker. The surname is spelled differently in various records. She and her husband, Johann Wilhelm Hünefeld, immigrated in 1837 initially settling in Cincinnati, OH, where their first child and oldest son, Heinrich Wilhelm, was born 06 Jun 1838; they were husband and wife aboard the ship "Atlantic" in 1837 crossing.

A second child was born in Cincinnati and baptized at St. John's German Protestant church (LDS Film 1510039): Christine Elisabethe Hünefeld, b. 5 Oct 1840, bapt. 18 Oct 1840; Parents: Willh. Hünefeld & Christ. Elisabethe; Sponsors: Heinrich Brinkmaier & Christ. Elisabeth. This information is courtesy of researcher Robert C. Rau. With no death entry in Immanuel record and no entry on 1850 census, this young child must have died prior to the move to Warren County, MO. After Wilhelm Hünefeld's death in 1852, Christine married Wilhelm Brüggenjohann.

Mrs. Brüggenjohann's obituary appeared in the Warrenton Herald, "Hopewell News," 25 October 1898: Died last Friday, October 7th, Mrs. Bruggenjohan, after a few months illness, aged 79 years.

Given name at death entry of 7 October 1898 in church record was Wilhelmine Christine.

Mrs. Brüggenjohann's headstone in Immanuel/Immanuels United Church of Christ Cemetery, Holstein, MO, can also be viewed at Warren County, MO, Rootsweb. Many thanks go to Betty Brooks for her assistance and dedication to preserving "the long forgotten family cemeteries" of central Missouri:
