Mrs. Eliza Jane Magee, second daughter of Robert and Mary Jane (Coleman) Nelson, was born in Harrison county (sic), Missouri, July 21, 1864, and departed this life July 11, 1950, aged 85 years, 11 months and 20 days.

Her childhood was spent on her father's farm near Bethany, where the county farm is now located. Her entire life, with the exception of 15 years, was spent in Harrison county (sic).

She was united in marriage to Albert Warren Magee of Bethany, Dec. 2, 1883. To this union seven children were born. Her husband preceded her in death, Feb. 15, 1931. One daughter, Nettie Jane, died in infancy, one son, Lee Roy, at the age of 22, and a daughter, Mrs. Ellis (Bertha) Funderburg, in October, 1932. Left to mourn her passing are Frank Magee and Mrs. Riley (Etta) Castle of West Des Moines, Iowa, Ota Magee of Eagleville, and Raymond of New Hampton. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was tenderly cared for at the home of her son, Raymond, and wife, during her last illness. She was a loving mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend; always willing to help others in time of sickness. She was loved by all who knew her, and will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church (sic) at New Hampton July 13, 1950, the Rev. O.D. Hedges officiating. Mrs. Dale Foster sang "Sunrise Tomorrow" and "The Garden of Prayer," with Mrs. Ed Beeler at the piano Pallbearers were Albert Russell Magee, Darryl Magee, Russell J. Magee, Charles Miller, Lee Ashford, and Forrest Miles. Flower girls were Mrs. Velma Virden, Mrs. John Meyer, Mrs. Lois Dill, Mrs. Chloe Magee, Mrs. Bonnie Jean Magee and Miss Leah Meyers. Burial was at the Foster cemetery (sic), W.G. Noble and Son, morticians.
