On her daughter Julia's birth certificate the name given as her maiden name was Seamon

Her son gave it as Salmon, which may be in error.

Her mother was Julia Ann SAMMONS. I have a copy of a letter and the envelope Julia wrote to her sister in Green Township, Hamilton County, OH (which is her birthplace) confirming receipt of the news of her sister Cynthia's husband, Alexander Long. The original is in the Alexander Long Collection at a museum in Cincinnati, OH.

Their family home was on the Victorian Home Tour: The Miller House - 1332, now 1422 Grand avenue - Richardson Romanesque built in 1890 by Mr. Miller, a grocer. This style emphasized arches, lintels, and sills by using a different stone from the walls. Straight-topped windows were used in addition to the round arched type. The belt of brick corbels beneath the upper gable and the 3 story polygonal tower are typical Romanesque features. Rented by
Col Carl Raymond Gray and family from the widow Mrs Miller in 1898, then purchased by Albert A Ramsay for his family.

Rented her south Grand avenue home to "Frisco's" Colonel Carl Raymond Gray and family in September 1898, returning to her brick home at Howard & Chestnut. (House later purchased by Albert A Ramsey, of Ramsey Department Store)

Census: 1900, age 53 Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri, widowed with one daughter, at 641 Howard avenue.

Death: passed away at age 71 yrs, 10 mos & 28 days in her brick home at 215 East Chestnut in Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri of complications of chronic nephritis/apoplexy. Missouri Death Certificate informant: son, W. H. Miller of Carthage, Missouri.

Dr. K. E. Baker, MD was the attending physician and the funeral directions were handled by Ulmer Funeral home in Carthage.
