Mrs. John G. Davis died Sunday, February 2, 1947, at her home near Reidsburg, where she had resided for the past 20 years. Born August 19, 1873, at Saxonburg, Clarion county, her parents were the late William and Margaret Campbell. On January 16, 1895, she married John G. Davis, and lived in Sligo before moving to Reidsburg. She is survived by her husband, five daughters, Mrs. Charles R. Edelen and Mrs. A.F. Hess, both of Clarion; Mrs. Clarence Stauffer, of Reidsburg, Mrs. John C. Snyder of Kittanning; Mrs. R.A. Beichner of Baltimore, Md., three sons: R.C. Davis, of Clarion, Dick Davis and Dean Davis, of near Sligo; 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Rhetta Scott and Mrs. Joe Yeaney, of Clarion, and two brothers, W.O. Campbell of Pittsburgh, and T.R. Campbell of Clarion. One son, John Jr., preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, from the Sligo Methodist church with Rev. Lloyd Chelton, officiating. Burial was made in the Sligo cemetery, under the direction of Guy M. Hawk. The high esteem in which Mrs. Davis was held was attested by the large concourse of friends and relatives who attended the obsequies, along with the great number of floral tributes. - submitted by Linda Walls
