Leatrice Joy Scoville Tucker, age 84, passed away Wed., August 1, 2007 in Bountiful, Utah. She was born August 31, 1922 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Earl Hurst and Blanche Fisher Scoville. She was one of eight children, and was schooled in Raymond and Calgary. During World War II she worked in a munitions factory in Sorrel, Quebec. She married Kenneth Ross Tucker on May 19, 1945 in Augusta, Georgia, which was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She had six children, three boys and three girls. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held may positions, her favorite being the Primary Chorister. After many months of arduous study, she became a United States citizen in May 1956. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in many choirs. She loved the arts, including the ballet, opera and symphony. She grew beautiful roses, but most of all she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a friend to everyone. Even though she lost her ability to speak after her debilitating stroke in 1981, she touched the lives of all who knew her with her gentle, generous, and peaceful spirit.
The family would like to thank the nurses, staff and friends at the Avalon Care Center for their tender loving care.
She is preceded in death by her husband and her son, Kenneth Ross Tucker, Jr.
She is survived by five children and their spouses: Lorraine (David) Gunn from Provo; Owen (Miriam) from Sandy; Sharon Tucker from Sugarhouse; Stephen (Linda) from Saratoga Springs, and Lisa (Scott) Rawley from Bountiful.
Leatrice had 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2007 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where friends and family may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Monday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m prior to services. Interment-Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
