Wife of Alison Berger, daughter of John and Christiana Wright Pullen

Chalk Level, Jan. 18. - Mrs. Susan Pullen Berger passed away at her late home January 16th from bronchial pneumonia. She was 75 years of age. Mrs. Berger had been in declining health for several years but pneumonia developed the past week and her condition gradually grew worse. She was one of the most prominent and best loved ladies of this community. She was an active member of Greenfield Baptist Church, a member of the Women`s Missionary Society and when she was able she was always present at the meetings. Her husband preceeded her in death three years ago. She is survived by the following children: Charles and George Berger of this place, Mrs. S. W. Camden, Danville, Mrs. J. C. Keatts Pomeroy, Washington, Frank and Ben of Coalgood, KY, and Clyde Berger of Tsingtao, China. One sister, Mrs. Nannie Berger of this place and 18 grandchildren also survive. The funeral was conducted at the family cemetery at 2 p.m. by her pastor, Rev. E. P. Roberson

CHALK LEVEL, Jan. 19 - The funeral services of Mrs. Susan Pullem Berger were held at the home of her sister, Mrs. Nannie Berger Thursday at 2 p.m. by her pastor, Rev. E. P. Roberson. Interment took place in the family plot nearby. The pallbearers were Jacob Berger, D.J. Berger, of Gretna; Reid Berger and Sam Berger, of Goode; Wright Mitchell, Chatham, and Carl Ramsey of Danville. The flowerbearers were Mesdames B. W. Andrews, D. L. Ramsey, J. L. Scott, George Jones and Misses Susie Brooks, Thenia Rowland, Delma Rowland, Frances Berger, Virginia Camden, Lora Hamlet, Clara Dove, Benna Power and Minnie Berger and others. Little Miss Minnie Berger who had the misfortune to fall at school and break her collar bone is getting along nicely. Mrs. S.W. Camden, of Danville, spent this week with her mother being called here by her illness and death.
