William Daniel McGriff, a son of Marion and Nancy Boone McGriff, was born April 1, 1860, in Maries County, Missouri; died at his home in Miller County May 3, 1938, at the age of 78 years, one month and three days.
On January 9, 1887, he was united in marriage to Louisa Derona Berry, who preceded him in death in 1899. To this union were born six children, Oscar of Granite City, Ill., Carrie of St. Louis, Mo., Brice of Los Angeles, Calif., Vernettie of York, Nebr. Two children preceded him in death 37 years ago.
On March 16, 1909, he was married to Ida Mae Clark, and to this union one child was born, Wade Duane, who passed to the Great Beyond January 24, 1932. Mr. McGriff had nine grandchildren, eight of whom are living. Wilma McGriff died 20 years ago. He also has three great-grandchildren living.
During the year 1891 or 1892 he united with the Christian Church at Humphreys Creek. During the early history of that church Mr. McGriff took an active part in both the Sunday school and church work, and he kept his membership in this church until his death.
Besides his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is survived by the following sisters: Mrs. Nanie Graham, Washington, Mo.; Mrs. Mandy Dodd, Dixon, Mo.; Mrs. Alice Bodendick, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Martha Lewis, Iberia, Mo., and one half brother—Marion Vaughn, Henrietta, Mo.
Funeral services were held in the home Friday afternoon, at two o'clock, the Rev. P.J. Eckhoff of Iberia officiating. Interment was made in the Clark Cemetery under direction of the Adams & Casey Funeral Service of Iberia.
