SARAH JANE TREGO DEAD AT MONTICELLO

Monticello, Ill, May 10 - Sarah Jane Trego was born October 15, 1836 near Circleville, Ohio and was married July 2, 1852, to Thomas W. Motherspaw. They came to Illinois soon after and engaged in farming. Mr. Motherspaw died a number of years ago. Mrs. Trego was the mother of eight children, five of whom survive her. For the past ten years, she has made her home among her children and for the last four has been an invalid. She died May 9 at 6:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Ridgley, at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 24 days. During the long time that she was an invalid, she was always in a cheerful humor and did what she could to make those around her happy.

Her children living are as follows - Mary M. Smith, Los Aminas, Colo.; John F. Motherspaw, Deland, Ill; Fannie Kukendall (Kirkendall), Peoria, Ill.; Della T. Bartlett, Edwardsville, and Lena M. Ridgley, Monticello.

The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon from the Ridgley residence.

Sarah's first husband, Maj. Thomas W. Motherspaw died from wounds suffered in the Civil War.

She then married John Merryman on March 11, 1868 in Piatt Co., Illinois.

After his death, she married Wesley N. Trego on June 10, 1875 in Piatt Co., Illinois. They were divorced before June 18 1900 according to the 1900 U.S. Census.
