BUSHLAND - Rob Groves, 71, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the Frying Pan Ranch Cemetery with the Rev. Jess Little, First Baptist Church, Claude, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Rob Groves was born Nov. 11, 1935, to Paul and Pauline Groves. He married Jo Rita Johnson in 1957. For the past 42 years, they have made their home on the Frying Pan Ranch, where Rob was foreman.
In 1982, he became a partner with F.G. "Butch" Collard in the cattle business. He loved raising horses, especially when his children and grandchildren were involved. "Working cattle" was never "work" to him.
Rob was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters: Jo Angela Lamb and husband Tony of the Ranch, and Kelly Mitchell and husband Jimmy Joe of Panhandle; a son, Rob E. Groves, Jr. and wife Kelli of Dumas; two sisters: Rue Paula Duncan of Canyon and Susie Butler of Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren: T.J., Bob, Sarah, Paul, Jordan, Hannah, Jaemi Jo and Kenedi; and one great-grandchild, Jake.
The family suggests memorials be made to The Children's Miracle Network, 2777 Stemmons Freeway, Suite 1025, Dallas, TX 75207.
