| Birth: | 1845 | | Death: | 1924 |  Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the Civil War as a Sergeant in Company C, 19th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery during his regiment's attack and repulse of elements of Pickett's Charge on the Third Day of the Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (July 3, 1863). His citation simply reads "Capture of flag of 57th Virginia Infantry (C.S.A.). He also assisted in taking prisoners". His Medal was issued on December 1, 1864. He was one of seven 19th Massachusetts Infantry soldiers to be awarded the Medal of Honor during the Civil War (the others being Major Edmund Rice, 2nd Lieutenant John G.B.
