Son of Walter and Hildegarde(Henniger)Kruse. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harry, sister Maurine and the love of his life Freda Clanton Kruse.
He is survived by one brother Donald Kruse and wife Marie of Winters Texas. Three daugthers, Hilda Dupre and husband Randy of San Angelo, Martha Bridges and husband Mike of Austin, Brenda Iskra of Big Lake. One son Dennis Kruse and wife Vickie of Midland. A sister-in-law(Wife of Harry)Bodean Kruse Four cherished grandchildren Zac Iskra, John Bridges, Reagan and Brynn Kruse. Numerous nieces and newphews.
Kenneth was raised in Runnels County Texas and attended school in Winters. Raised a Lutheran, he was confirmed in 1945 at St. John Luthern Church in Winters. In 1949 he enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country in the Korean conflict.
Kenneth and Freda were married in Reno, Nev. on June 25,1953. They soon began a life in Big Lake, Texas where Kenneth made a career in the oil industry.He worked for Pool Well Service during his early years. In the mid-1990's he took his family to Tripoli, Libya, North Africa, where he worked in the well service in the Sahara Desert for IntairDrill.
Following that two year hitch overseas,he moved back to Big Lake and formed KK Well Service. That began the most satisfying part of his career, working with and for so many good people.
the Well service business allowed Kenneth to expand and form a small, independent oil company and a farming operation, which brought him back to his roots and his love of the land. As a long time resident of Reagan County he served on th Reagan County Water District Board for 10 years, on the FHA Board,and was charter member of the Big Lake Bank. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW.
Kenneth was at his best when he was on the brake of a pulling unit, driving a tractor, or busting watermelons with his family on his beloved farm. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and other friends and relatives, as he was a special man that led by example, infuencing many with his strength and support.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday August 19. 2007, in Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake. The Rev. Chris Powell And Mr. Byron Bitner Officiated,. Visitation was held at Johnson Funeral Home in San Angelo from 3:00-5:00 pm August 18.
pallbearers were Zac Iskre, John Bridges,Deacon Jones,Billy Morse,Dee Kruse, Brad Kruse,Terry Kruse. Honorary pallbearers were T.E. Miller,Wedith Bishop Jr., PeeWee Poyner and Garland Eggleston.
Special Thanks go to his longtime cardiologist and friend Dr. Gene Sherrod of San Angelo. Appreciation also goes to Dr. David Watkins, Dr.James Corwin and their staffs, the wonderful people at the Hospices of Midland and San Angelo, and to Veronica Fierro and Elizabeth Romero for their awesome care.
