Elender Mae Bowman Locklear, 82, of 1097 Brown Town Rd., Rockmart, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2003. She was born April 18, 1921 in Bartow County, daughter of the late Lou Etta Morris Bowman and the late Frank Bowman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Ray Locklear, and a brother, Dennis Joel Locklear. Survivors include: sons, Mack, Larry, Silas, Tim, and Travis Locklear; daughter, Linda Jones; brother, Claude Bowman; and sisters, Frances Bowman and Lois Jones. 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 1, at 2 p.m. in the Willow Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Locklear and Rev. Sydney Locklear officiating. Interment followed in Yorkville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tim Jones, Mark Jones, Evan Locklear, Jason Puckett, Tanner Puckett, and Buddy Dailey. Honorary pallbearers were Tyler Barron, Brett Jones, and Cody Locklear. Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements(The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, May 06, 2003)
