Perry Gregg, age 21, farm laborer, is in household in 1870; relationship not known. (Note age transcribed on census records as "4y".)
Melvinia is buried in Grant Cemetery beside George. m2: Mrs. Maude Mae (Harvey) Gough (who was 40 yrs younger) Feb 28 1901 in Harrisonville, Mo. He died about 2 yrs after the marriage. Maude brought her four children: Daniel, Joe P, Leana L. and William Gough to the marriage. George and Maude had one child, -George Washington Gregg Jr. (Dec 7 1901-Mar 23 1864) m: Helen Roberts, two daughters who died in infancy).
Probate: Maude died in 1929 and is buried in Wadesburg Cemetery with her third husband, Lewis Alan Gregg, who was a nephew to George.

Note, Moved to KS between 1860 birth of William and 1862 birth of Martha. They and many other families moved to Kansas from the Grant/Wadesburg area where there was bitter division between North and South loyalties, with neighbor killing neighbor in their own yards. Many returned to their homes after the war.
Alert, do not confuse with George Washington Gregg b: Nov 1837 also in Ohio, lived in Grundy MO. many years. He died Jan 1911.
No marker identified for George in 2008 photo index of cemetery, altho he is known to have/had a military stone. There were numerous civil war stones too worn to read.
