Asa Brooks, 74, Dies After Lingering Illness
Asa Brooks, 74, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Peter Peterson, 610 Lake Street Saturday evening at 7 o'clock, after a lingering illness of several years. He is survived by his wife and five children.
Mr. Brooks was born in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, March 10, 1853. When a young boy he went to Indiana and on December 24, 1876 he was married to Mary A. Walker at Alton, Indianna. To them were born five children: Luther D., Riley A., William M., Nora E., of Austin and Charles R. of St. Paul. One brother Riley, living south of Austin, one sister, Mrs. Rachel Pickett of Magnolia, Minn., Fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. Peterson Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Warner Johnson of the Methodist church officiating. Interment will be made at Oakwood cemetery.
