Former Blair resident Scott C. Morgan, 39 died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in Eugene, Ore.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Country Bible Church in Blair. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Scott Christopher Morgan was born May 17, 1964 in Omaha to Dwight and Marleen (Johnson) Morgan. He graduated from Omaha North High School in 1982. He was active in the band, Omaha Youth Symphony and Boy Scouts.

In 1986, he graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan College in Lincoln. He was in the college band.

He attended Ohio State University graduate school, where he earned his Ph.D. in 1992. He did his postdoctoral work at Yale University in 1992 and 1993.

He was a chemistry professor at Dana College from 1993 until 2002, at which time he moved to Pella, Iowa, and began teaching at Central College.

On Oct. 5, 1991, he married Michelle Steffen in Fremont.

Mr. Morgan enjoyed family sporting events, helping coach his children's football and baseball teams. Along with spending time with his family, he enjoyed biking, fishing and golfing.

He was a member of the American Chemical Society and Country Bible Church, where he was an AWANA leader.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle, and three children, Ryan, Jason and Amber, all at home; parents, Dwight and Marleen Morgan of Milwaukee, Wis.; brother and sister-in-law, Damon and Daylene Morgan of Muscatine, Iowa, sister and brother-in-law, Marcie and Brett Cowdin of Topeka, Kansas; father-in-law, Erv Steffen of Fremont, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
