Ferol Blake Platt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed on peacefully to her eternal home July 18, 2007, with her loving family beside her.
Ferol was born February 18, 1920 in Farmington, Utah to Charles H. Blake and Sylvia Susanna Turner Blake. Later moved to Bountiful where she grew up during the depression era. Graduated from Davis High School, 1937 and attended BYU. Ferol was extremely talented in music, art and literature. At a very early age it was discovered the she has a natural sense of pure harmony and could sight read music. As a young child, performed in community plays, musical and operettas. She, along with two friends, toured with a popular dance band during the early 1940's. She continued to sing throughout her life in duets, trios, quartets and choral groups. She later studied voice and sang mostly classical music. She was an active supporter of the arts and loved to attend Utah Symphony, opera, ballet and theatre performances.
Ferol was an avid reader, introducing this love of books to her children and grandchildren. She was employed at Deseret Book for 20 years in juvenile literature and later as a buyer and assistant manager for the downtown Salt Lake City store. Ferol met her eternal partner and companion in Los Angeles where they were married on July 17, 1943. Later that same year were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Ferol was an active member of the LDS church, serving in Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society, where she taught classes in literature and art and served in the presidency. In later years, with her husband, was called as a temple worker.
Ferol is survived by her husband, Paul Williams Platt; son, Paul Blake Platt (Susan); daughters, Susanne Platt Gunnarson (Neal), Kathryn Ferol Platt Watson (Brent); brother, Charles H. Blake Jr., (Sandy); sister, Mary Lu Blake Koenig (John); 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grand-children. Funeral services will be held Thurs. July 26 at 12 noon in the Cottonwood 12th Ward, 1750 E. Spring Lane (5195 S). Viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:45 prior to services. Interment at Memorial Estates Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 So. Cottonwood Heights.
