Kate Harrison Baker, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 26, at Durham Hensley Nursing Home in Chuckey, where she had lived for the past eight years.
She was born Feb. 26, 1917, in Cleveland, the daughter of Henry and Frances Farnsworth Harrison and was descended from Greene County pioneers Isaiah Harrison and Thomas Farnsworth, who settled here in the late 1700s.
Mrs. Baker had worked as an accountant for International Fertilizer Company and for Dr. Keith Harrison.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Greeneville.
She is survived by her stepson and stepdaughter-in-law: Dr. David and Gayle Baker of Knoxville, one brother and two sisters-in-law: Howard and Arlene Harrison of Orlando, Fla., and Lucille Harrison of Greeneville; nieces and nephews: Cody Harrison, Kenneth Harrison and Frances Ellison of Greeneville, Jennifer Shaming of Adamsville, Bob Harrison of Cincinnati, Alan Harrison of Delton, Fla., Cynthia Payne and Deborah Harrison, both of Orlando, Thomas Hardenburg, Hal Hardenburg, Frances Hardenburg and Charles Hardenburg of California, Thomas Harrison and Kenneth Harrison of Sprott, Ala.; and cousins: Johnnie Kelly and Arlene McGhee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Charles Baker; five brothers: Roby Harrison, Claiborne Harrison, Lowell Harrison, Roy Harrison and Cy Harrison; and one sister: Eula Frances Hardenburg.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 1 p.m. Sunday at Harrison's Cemetery, off the 107 Cutoff, for the graveside service.
Charles Reese, minister, will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 this afternoon at Rose Hill Funeral Home
