George Biggar was the son of William J Biggar. He came to Covelo in 1903 and clerked in merchandising stores, then purchased his own store, taking in Edward Long as his partner in 1910. The firm became Long & Biggar.

Mr Biggar married Luella Cary in Covelo June 22, 1910. He established a medical clinic in his wife's name which served Covelo's needs for several years. He and Luella were active in public affairs. George was a member of Covelo Lodge and Augusta Chapter OES. He served as California State Senator during Gov. Earl Warren's term and was instrumental in the preservation of the state's forests
