Actress. She began her career on radio in the role of secretary 'Judy Price' on the "Dr. Christian" series in 1937. In 1941, she made her big screen debut in "Cheers for Miss Bishop" followed by "The Jungle Book"(1942). Among her many film credits are "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (1942), "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Pride of the Marines" (1945). For television she was most noted for the role of sister Margaret on "Love That Bob" (1955 to 1959), as Marlo Thomas' mother on "That Girl" (1966 to 1970) and as the permanent spokesperson on the 20 Mule Team Borax commercials. She died in Torrance, California.
