Only child of Rev. Ralph Chester Shea, Sr (deceased, B.1907-D.1973) and Vauda Burt Shea (born 1909), father of Rachel Shea Beck, grandfather of Madeline and Sadie. Ex-husband of Dorothy Shea (deceased,B.1938-D.2002, married 22 years, 1969-1991).
As a church and Army brat, he grew up all over the country, mostly in the South, rarely settled in one place for more than a year. Moved to New York City in the mid to late 1960's where he met my mother. Lived there until 1991 when they divorced (rather amicably), and moved back to GA to care for his elderly mother, who ended up outliving him.
Attended Duke University for 2 years(Pre-Med, with the intention of being a psychiatrist), graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Philosophy. Worked as a software engineer for over 30 years (with Lockheed, Univac, IBM, etc.), and owned his own company for the last 20+.
A wise and intelligent man, always ready with a story about his life experiences to educate or simply to have a laugh. A very laid back, non-judgmental person, he could get along with just about anyone.
Gone much too soon and horribly missed.
Cause of death: Poorly differentiated small-cell carcinoma of undetermined origin (damned cancer).
