Dorothy grew up on the Shepherd family dairy farm on Gosford and Cobb Road. She attended the Ordena and Old River Schools, graduated from Kern County Union High School in 1938, and earned a Business Degree from Bakersfield Junior College in 1940. She married her high school sweetheart, Paul, in 1941, and worked in a defense plant when he went off to war. She made a Christian home for Paul and their children on the family farm and was active in the Lakeside PTA, Bible Study Fellowship, Cotton Wives and was a member of Kern Union Church.

In no particular order Dorothy loved children, roses and camellias, sewing, painting, fishing, reading her Bible, talking to friends and family, RVing, and going out to eat. She did not like milking the cows, her middle name, mean or rude people. We will miss her.

Services will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at Doughty-Calhoun-OMeara Funeral Chapel. Pastor Doug Davis will officiate with interment following in Hillcrest Cemetery.
