Born in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Ira Clayton and Anna Belle Stanton Chadwick.
A 1938 graduate of Brazil High School, she worked at Kidd Insurance Agency, Brazil.
She was a member of Greencastle Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Norman L. Birt and wife Anita; a daughter, Susan Ramsey and husband Tom; two sisters, Eloise Chadwick and Sarah Watson; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty Sullivan and husband Norman "Scorchy" Birt.
