Professional Baseball Player. Charley "Sea Lion" Hall's career was one of the most spectacular in the history of baseball. At one time he was called the "Greatest relief pitcher on earth" by no less an authority than Connie Mack, the venerable manager of the Philadelphia Athletics. It has been said that he became the first "relief" pitcher, creating a new category in the baseball line-up. Charley's ball career began in 1904 with Seattle of the Pacific Coast league. In 1912, he was one of five hurlers who pitched Boston to the American league pennant and the World Series title. The others were Joe Woods, Hughie Bediant, Buck O'Brien and Ray Collins. After 27 years in the baseball world, Charley retired to his beloved home in Ventura, California.
