Major League Baseball Player. Born in Goshen, Ohio, he was a right-handed pitcher making his debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 26, 1898. For thirteen seasons, he played with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1898-1910), won 20 or more games four times and was member of the Pirates first World Series Championship (1909). In 1903, he led the National League in winning percentage .791, earned run average 2.06 and shutouts with 7. He concluded his career with a record of 193 wins,101 loss, 847 strikeouts, 241 complete games, 39 shutouts, 13 saves and a .2.47 earned run average. He died at age 81 in Goshen, Ohio.
