Marita Pearl Allison, 82, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Jones of the church, the Rev. Dan Powers of Northside Assembly of God and the Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Llano Cemetery under the direction of N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount.
Mrs. Allison was born in Wichita, Kan., and raised in the surrounding area. She moved to Amarillo in 1937 from Wichita. She married Herschel L. Allison the same year and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She and her husband owned and operated Allison Blacksmith welding and machine shop from 1942 until 1977 when their son, Bud Allison, took ownership. From 1970 until 1979, they were self-supporting missionaries in Argentina, Paraguay and South America. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and attended Northside Assembly of God. She has spent her life serving the Lord. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Ray Allison in 1944.
Survivors include her husband, Herschel L. "H.L." Allison; three daughters, Glenda Smyth of Amarillo, Shirley Thompson of Riverton, Wyo., and Claudia Nell Price of Amarillo; two sons, Bud Allison of Amarillo and Leland "Shorty" Allison of Tucson, Ariz., one brother, John Wilcox of Kansas City, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
