Everett Stephens, 83, of Winfield, passed away Tuesday morning, March 27, 1990, at his home. He was the son of the late Manuel and Margaret Hamby Stephens and was also preceded in death by two brothers: Ed Stephens and Jess Ross; five sisters: Lizzie Stephens, Delphia Bradley, Grace Ross, and two infant sisters. He was a faithful member of the New Light Baptist Church since June 17, 1951. Mr. Stephens is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Ezra and Roxie Stephens of Winfield; two sisters: Mary Jones of Rockwood, and Verna Voiles of Ohio; two special nieces: Nola Gayheart and Pat Hicks, both of Winfield; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 30, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Elbert Duncan and Rev. Raymond Strunk officiating. Special music was provided by the Elbert Duncan Family. Burial was in the New Light Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were: Delbert Duncan, Gilbert Strunk, Bert Burchfield, Norman Jones, Hurstal Strunk, and Bruce Duncan. Jones and Son Funeral Home of Oneida was in charge of the arrangements.
