One of the founders of Harmony United Methodist Church.

The Southern Christian Advocate, Charleston, South Carolina reported, "Death of Rev. Lewis Strickland of Georgia departed this life on the 16th of July, 1838, in his 69th year. The Rev. Lewis Strickland was a local preacher in the Methodist Episcopal Church for nearly 30 years ."

State of Georgia Tattnall County Know all men by these presents, that I, Joshua Dasher of the County and State aforesaid for and in consideration of the good will which he has for the prosperity of religion and other good causes him thereunto moving hath given, granted and forever quit claim, interest or demand in and to a certain lot or parcel of land lying in the said county of Tattnall, including a Methodist meeting house lately erected on land which the said Joshua Dasher purchased from John T. Sharpe and contains Six acres which will more freely appear by a plat of the same hereunto annexed and the said Joshua Dasher for the purpose aforesaid, hath given granted, released and confirmed the said Six acres of land to John Johnson, Ezekiel Stafford, Abel Chester, James Carver, and Louis Strickland trustee and their successors in office forever as a house or place of worship for the use of the Methodist Episcopal Church of the United States of America. To have and to hold allowed singular the above mentioned and described lot of land, situated lying and being as aforesaid, together with all and Singular the houses and privileges thereunto belonging to them, the said trustees in trust forever, and the said Joshua Dasher for himself his heirs and assigns, against himself his heirs and assigns and all other person or persons whomsoever, to the aforesaid trustee and their successors in trust, for ever will warrant and defend the same.
In witness whereof the Said Joshua Dasher hath hereunto set his hand and Seal this Seventh day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and twenty.
