REBA "MIKIE" BROCK


Mrs. Reba M. "Mikie" Brock, 85, died at 11:35 p.m. Monday (July 16, 2007).


Born March 20, 1922 in Burton, Illinois, Reba was the daughter of Lester and Hazel Reinhart Steele. She married Tom Brock on October 11, 1971 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1990.


Reba lived in Burton most of her life, caring for her parents until She married Tom in 1971. She moved to the Senior Center at age 81. She loved to sew and made most of the clothes for herself and her younger sister.


Reba loved to spend time outdoors, mowing her yard on her riding lawnmower, feeding birds and planting a vegetable garden every year. In later years, her nephew, Jeff, helped her plant her garden and with her household chores. She and Jeff gave most of the produce from the garden away to family, friends and neighbors.


Reba was employed at Eli & Walker for 16 years and later at Motorola for 22 years until her retirement.


Survivors include a brother in law, Dale Fleer; a sister in law, Lois Steele several nieces and nephews including, Edwin Holzgrafe, Don Roush, Jerry Roush, Wayne Steele, Jeffrey Steele, David Fleer, Shirley Guenther, Peggy DeVries, Barbara Steele, Mary Niekamp, Sandra Steele and Patty Lieurance; and many loving great nieces
and great nephews.


Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; three sisters, Betty Roush, Emily Holzgrafe and Melva Fleer, who died on July 18, 2007; two brothers, Harold Steele and Eugene Steele; two nephews, Lee Steele and Mark Roush, and two nieces, Susie Heffner and Nancy Harrison.


Graveside services for Reba and her sister, Melva Fleer will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in the Burton Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Morwell.


Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 until 9:30 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy.
