DUMAS - Evelyn G. Baudine, 91, longtime Dumas resident, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, in Newark, Ohio.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Baudine was born June 5, 1916, in Pauls Valley, Okla. She was a loving caregiver during her life, and a champion advocate for persons with mental retardation, helping to start the first sheltered workshop for persons with disabilities in Dumas. Evelyn was also a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James A. and Gertrude Rowell; her husband, E.B. "Blondie" Baudine; a daughter, Jean Ann Baudine; a granddaughter, Melissa Ann Collard; and a sister, Louise Harrell of Dumas.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Collard and husband Ben of Granville, Ohio; a grandson, Bret Collard and wife Julie of Elbert, Colo.; a granddaughter, Sara Selbe of Columbus, Ohio; and two great-granddaughters, Katherine Jeanann Selbe and Alexandria Nicole Collard; two brothers, Joe Rowell and wife Betty of Vernal, Utah, and Darrell Rowell and wife Ferris of Gun Barrel; two sisters, Fern Churchman of Austin and Jimmy Rawdon and husband Lou of Plainview; and many nieces and nephews, including Jack McKee and wife Sue and Bill McKee and wife Lucy of Dumas.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Special Olympics, 1133 19th St. N.W., 12th Floor, Washington, DC 20036-3604.
