Mrs. Thea Shaw was born on March 3, 1864, in Telemarken, Norway, the daughter of Gunder and Tone Lee.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Telemarken and received her Christian and secular education in her native country.

Because of a visit by her brother, Rev. Aslak Lee of Minot, N.D. while on a missionary tour of Norway in 1900, she decided to accompany him back to Minnesota where she spent 2 years with her aunt and uncle.

On January 22, 1902, she was united in marriage to Elling Shaw of Adams at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church, the late Rev. William Rasmussen officiating.

To this union was born one son, Selmer. They lived on their farm five miles northwest of Adams until 1913, when they moved to Wheeler, Wisconsin, where they lived for 5-1/2 years. They then moved to their present home in Adams where she passed away early Wednesday morning being ill for several weeks, but she always placed the welfare of her family before any personal thought.

She is survived by her husband and son of Adams, Elling Shaw and Selmer Shaw, and one sister in Adams, Mrs. Hans Olson. There are two sisters in Norway, Miss Anna Lee and Mrs. Hege Skolas.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon from the Adams Funeral Home and from the Little Cedar Lutheran Church, M.L. Witte, pastor. The pallbearers were Martin Baldner, Edwin Johnson, Andrew Severson, John Shaw, Carl Slindee, and Oscar Hanson. She was laid to rest at the Little Cedar Cemetery.
